Expanded Manchester Arndale - now fully open
The northern extension of Manchester Arndale opened its doors in September increasing the offer to some 1.4 million sq.ft. of retail space with over 200 stores, cafes and restaurants, making it one of the largest in-town shopping centres in the UK.
The third and final phase in the centre's extension, launches the spectacular Winter garden, with shops, bars and restaurants set around a 100ft high glass atrium. This creates a new circular pedestrian flow on both upper and lower mall levels.
The bright and airy malls now feature leading high street and specialist names including a Next department store, TopShop, River Island, Apple, H&M, Bershka, Republic, Blend, Waterstones, Sportsdirect.com, New Look, Virgin Megastore, Bank and Monsoon.
The centre has been redesigned to give the impression of a series of individual, outward facing buildings clad in limestone and glass, punctuated by new glazed entrances that let light flood in.
The £150 million project has resulted in a new Manchester Arndale - virtually unrecognisable from the yellow tiled and brown mosaic-faced monolith that used to dominate the city centre
