When it opened in 2001, The Chimes proved a catalyst for Uxbridge as it doubled the retail offer in the town and established Uxbridge as a major retail destination in the region. A mixed-use regeneration scheme, the Chimes provides modern shopping, leisure and residential accommodation and a new public open space, The Piazza, which has created a focal point for the town, bringing together the cinema with three restaurants which re-used listed buildings.
